A lot of GO, not enough Stop!

One of my three year old grand daughter’s favorite games is Stop and Go.
She races around and waits for me to put up my hand signaling her to stop and wait for the “go” command.

It occurs to me I our daily lives there is a lot of go and not enough stop.
Summer is a good time to insert more “stop” in our lives.
It is a good time to unplug, slow down, and press the pause button.

This is a good time to take a little more time for family meals, spend time outside taking walks, looking at stars, going to outside concerts.

Be brave and turn off computers, phones, tablets and other electronic devices and talk, play games, read.

Talk and listen to each other. This is a great time to catch up with each other, plan a trip, ask your children about changes in their lives, the biggest things they learned during the school year, tell stories about your memories of school.

Bring grand parents into the picture. They have lots of good information to pass along.

Signs of too much go: anxiety, depression, sleep problems, irritability, problems with memory and learning and a general feeling of being overwhelmed.

So breathe, pause and enjoy the lazy days of summer!!

What’s your favorite thing to do with your family when you turn-off technology?
